The locality of Santa Lucia has an area of 0.7 km squared. (latitude.35º51’45” N longitude 14º30 ‘16”E).

In this locality we find a high population density and most of the buildings are government apartments. However one also finds many houses and villas in particular in the vicinity of Wied Garnaw. A characteristic which stands out in this locality is the number of gardens and patios with trees and flowers which surround the buildings as well as the green belt around its perimeter for which it has earned the name of Garden City. Along this green belt one finds the Chinese Garden which has now become a symbol of this locality. There is also a picnic area and a garden referred to as Gnien l-iskultur. Parallel to Triq il-Barrani there is a jogging track in Ġnien taż-Żebbuġ and further south there is Wied Garnaw which is divided into several zones.

In the centre of this locality one finds several sport facilities such as the playing field with a five-a-side football pitch, another football pitch and a cycling track. The parish church dedicated to St. Pius X is also found in the centre of this locality near the big square named Pjazza 7 ta’ Lulju.

The main roads are Dawret it-torri, Triq Katerina Vitale, Triq il-Prinjoli, Triq il-Peprin and Vjal Oleandri.

The villages surrounding this locality are Tarxien, Paola, Għaxaq, Gudja and Luqa.
